The Refuge: Enjoy Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Posted by IOP Mag Leave a Comment

The Refuge restaurant in the Isle of Palms
Just over the IOP Connector, a new oasis sits almost hidden in a back corner of a shopping center. Elegant and serene, this stylish restaurant truly is a welcome refuge. It is ambitious in scope yet simple in execution, with menus changing fluidly throughout the day.

Early morning sees the Refuge filling a “coffee void” on the Island with its talented baristas whipping up rich espressos or specialty lattes. While the coffee bar remains open throughout the day, by nightfall it transforms into a lounge where you can relax over a glass of wine and appetizers or try a unique coffee cocktail and dessert.

Meanwhile, over in the coastal chic dining room and bar, guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food at the Refuge is upscale comfort, with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients. The gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches feature breads from local Roots Bakery and are gigantic, mouthwatering masterpieces. At dinner, the Maryland-style crabcake has become a local favorite, with demand so high the restaurant often sells out.

Another feature of the Refuge is the modern craft cocktail menu served at the bar. The drinks can be an event in themselves, with creative house-made infusions and gorgeous garnishes. It’s not uncommon to see a guest snap a photo of a beautiful cocktail creation. The Refuge also boasts the most extensive specialty whiskey and bourbon selection around.

Finally, weekend brunch at the Refuge is not to be missed. An extensive menu, live music and specialty cocktails and coffee drinks make it the perfect place to spend a leisurely weekend morning or afternoon.

The Refuge is located in the Island Center at 1517 Palm Blvd. in Isle Of Palms. To learn more, call 843-242- 8934 or visit www.therefugeiop.com.
