Restaurant Review: The Dinghy, An Oasis for Cold Beer Conversations

Posted by IOP Mag Leave a Comment

Pirate outside of The Dinghy Tap Room and Kitchen in the Isle of Palms, SC.

The Dinghy Tap Room and Kitchen is an Isle of Palms staple, and if you don’t know about it yet, you may want to check it out soon. It is the brainchild of The Windjammer owner Malcolm Burgis, who saw an opportunity when an adjacent building became available. Burgis asked his friend and 10-year employee Bret Jones what he thought, and if he could help bring his idea to fruition. Jones created the sketches, and The Dinghy was born.

There is something special about seeing live music near the beach, with a cold beer in hand as you’re hanging out with your fellow neighbors, friends and family. It’s pure bliss.

Pair your musical experience with delectable culinary offerings, such as Dirty Elvis Fries (sweet potato fries topped with warm peanut butter, crispy bacon and fried plantains), tender alligator bites that practically melt in your mouth and a panini-pressed Cuban sandwich, to name a few. Or try the jumbo wings with 16 different flavors, from dry rubs to homemade sauces. Looking for something a bit lighter? They haven’t forgotten the health-conscious patrons, as The Dinghy also offers vegetarian wraps, a grilled chicken sandwich and yummy salads. Whatever your hankering may be, there is truly something for everyone at The Dinghy, whether it’s the prime location, the live music or T the amazing food. And what about the drink offerings? The Dinghy keeps their guests well hydrated with great drinks and local beers on tap, offering a weekday happy hour from 4-7 p.m.

Regardless of when you decide to eat, drink and be merry at The Dinghy, you can indulge your senses from the moment you arrive until you leave, belly and spirit satisfied. Stop in and treat yourself to this unique establishment!
