Dear Agent: Is there any better time of year to buy or sell a home than another?
I ask because with real estate markets usually dependent on interest rates, number of homes for sale and unexpected occurrences such as COVID, I didn’t know if warmer or colder months had any significance in making the best decision.
Whitley Boyd: “There are a number of factors to consider when buying or selling a home. The ‘spring market’ has always been considered the launch of the busiest buying and selling season each year. The combination of warmer weather, pretty lawns and the goal for many people to move between school breaks create this peak season.”
WB: “During this time, there are not only more homes for sale, but also more buyers looking. While the number of homes on the market is typically lower during the holidays, there are also fewer buyers looking at that time and there will potentially be less competition. Everyone has personal circumstances that must be considered.”
WB: “The best time to buy a home is when you are ready and financially able to do so. Being prepared, having an open mind and prioritizing your needs versus wants will help you achieve your goals when the timing is right for you.”
