With community involvement that spans decades, it is no wonder patients had a voice in renaming the practice. “Just over a month ago, we officially changed our name,” explained Kim Wiggins, practice manager for the past 17 years. “Anytime we sponsored a run, participated in a health fair or even sponsored a recreation league team, our name would be Isle of Palms Family Dentistry, even though that wasn’t our official business name. We truly are a family oriented dental practice, so we followed the lead of our patients.” Dr. Brent Bailey, who took over the practice in 2001, proudly considers that once he has treated a patient, “their teeth are now my teeth.” All joking aside, every patient who walks through the door is treated like family by the staff and Dr. Bailey. “We have had patients who have been coming here for longer than I’ve worked here,” said Wiggins. “It is a family here between staff and our patients. Many people on staff By Stacy E. Domingo have worked here for decades, and that means we have shared in life experiences.” Isle of Palms Family Dentistry gladly accepts visitors from out-of-town as well as new residents to the Lowcountry. “I truly encourage someone looking for a new dentist to enjoy a drive out to the beach and see what we are all about. Patients will not feel like they are part of an assembly line as we are not afraid to spend more time with a patient. It is all about scheduling accordingly, and that allows us to remain efficient,” said Wiggins. Dr. Bailey added: “The focus and mission of our dental practice has always been to provide the highest level of service to our patients in a warm and caring atmosphere. While we keep up-to-date on all of the latest technology and treatments that dentistry has to offer, we remain old- fashioned in the sense that our patients receive our full attention and the time they deserve from us.” Advanced treatments at Isle of Palms Family Dentistry include porcelain crowns and veneers, implant placement and restorations, as well as root canals, wisdom teeth and various sedation options. “In my opinion,” said Wiggins, “Dr. Bailey does the best cosmetic work. We are a one-stop family dental practice, and, when necessary, we will refer our patients to specialists.” Of course, patients are encouraged to get their customized checkup, which goes beyond what insurance dictates. The two hygienists, Betsy and Laura, contribute over 50 years of combined professional knowledge. “Our patients’ experience starts with our front desk coordinator, Judy, who has been greeting and assisting for nearly 30 years,” Wiggins said. “As a team, we value, respect and care on a personal basis for every one of our patients. Dr. Bailey is a genuine, caring dentist no matter the patient’s age as we are a family practice that can manage all areas of dentistry. Bar none, our patients encounter the best group of professionals.” To schedule an appointment or to learn more, visit www.isleofpalmsfamily dentistry.com , find the practice on Facebook or call 843-886-6461.
