We would go to the old Charleston Museum in the morning, eat lunch at a seafood place in Mount Pleasant and spend the afternoon on the beach at the Isle Of Palms. One of the wealthy farmers in our church owned a big old beach house just across the road from the beach, with servants’ quarters underneath. They let us use that space to change and shower. One of my favorite childhood memories.
