From world-class golf courses to eateries that serve up baskets overflowing with the best local shrimp, fried to perfection, there’s no telling just what a trip to Isle of Palms will bring. One thing we know for sure is that 24 hours on shore will be filled with plenty of no-filter-needed views and local flavor. A day of exploration has to be fueled by an exceptional breakfast. THE REFUGE is the ideal place to pick up a latte, a scone and a bowl of steel-cut oats topped with berries, candied pecans and brown sugar. Also serving lunch and dinner, complete with a variety of crave- worthy cocktails, this eatery is sure to be your round-the- clock hang. “There is nothing more gratifying for me than when a diner walks in for lunch or dinner and mentions that they were in for breakfast earlier in the day,” said owner Jocelyn Lamond. “Each menu is so satisfying, it would be a shame to miss out on anything.” With a rotating selection of acoustic singer/songwriters and an intriguing cocktail list, it’s no wonder so many have flocked to this eatery. Knowing that the coming months will bring high temperatures, this restaurant has just the icy treat to defeat any signs of summer blues. “Frozen is in this year,” said Lamond. “Our baristas and bartenders have created some wonderful coffee and espresso-based frozen cocktails, as well as our light, refreshing wine ‘slushees’ during the heat of summer. We also have the best bourbon and whiskey selection around.” After your belly is full, it’s time for an outdoor outing of epic proportions.
