She said the response to the environmental issues presented in that novel was encouraging. “When readers learn about a species, they want to help,” she explained. “This novel is meant to continue the story of “The Beach House” and to let people know a lot of birds are in trouble,” Monroe added. But, just like her characters who also find them- selves in trouble, there are ways out and room for improvement. “I always like to leave my books hopeful,” she concluded.
