She fell in love with the island and four years ago relocated to Wild Dunes with her husband. “I start every day with a walk on the beach to see the sunrise with my walking buddies – it’s my daily exercise and simply beautiful. We also love to eat out and support the local restaurants,” Pounds shared. “Another favorite of mine is getting around on a golf cart. If we can’t get there on a golf cart on the weekend, we don’t go. I can hop on a plane for work, go to any major destination and come right back home to our quiet piece of paradise. It’s amazing being able to live this lifestyle.” Pounds has made many friends through Isle of Palms First UnitedMethodist Church and now runs its volunteer-driven Loaves and Fishes program, which takes donations of vacationers’ leftover food and brings them to East Cooper Community Outreach weekly – totaling about 1,000 pounds each summer. Her same group of friends from college has now been communing on the Isle of Palms annually for more than three decades and has grown to about 30 people, including spouses and children.
