Kid-friendly summer fun under the island sun: Wild Dunes offers array of interactive, hands-on children’s activities

beach, exploration, nature, findings, mother natureLooking for a family-friendly summer activity or a creative, kid-centric venture? Look no further than Wild Dunes Resort. Opportunities abound in and around the Grand Pavilion – at the Sweetgrass Inn Pool, Resort Amphitheater, Turtle Cove Family Center and Palm Cove inside Wild Dunes.

From workshops and classes to games and s’mores around the fire pit, the talented resort staff provides guidance and expertise throughout every adventure offered.

OCEAN KIDS CRAFT

In this ocean-inspired workshop, young creators craft a variety of projects, transforming natural finds into their own under-the-sea masterpieces. Recommended for children ages 5-11.

TIE DYE

Art, process, colors, clothing, tie, dyeLocated at the Sweetgrass Inn Pool and designed for creating a timeless, tie-dye craft. During this hour-long drop-in session, choose from a selection of garments and explore a variety of tie-dye techniques to create your own colorful design. Arrive anytime within the hour to craft your creation, experiment with vibrant hues and leave ready to head to the beach in your one-of-a-kind gear. All ages welcome.

BINGO

Settle in under a warm island breeze and play for the chance to win exciting prizes in a lively outdoor setting. Space is limited. Reservations are recom mended, with a limited number of walk-up spots available.

BUILD-A-BUDDY

Turtle Building Workshop. Create your own stuffed sea turtle while learning about our coastal environment and consciously-sourced plush materials. Inspired by the sea turtles that nest along our shores, this hands-on experience blends creativity with care for the coast. Each workshop features thoughtfully sourced, recycled fabrics, reflecting Wild Dunes Resort’s commitment to sustainability. Guests will craft a special sea turtle friend and receive an official “birth certificate” to commemorate the day it joins the family. This is not a drop-off activity. Parental supervision is required.

SLIME MAKING

Summer, fun, activities, IOPSC

Get ready for a squishy, stretchy and colorful adventure in the Slime Making Class. This hands-on experience invites young creators to experiment with fun textures and vibrant colors as they craft their own custom slime. With a variety of exciting ingredients to mix, stir and squish, children will enjoy a playful activity that sparks creativity and curiosity. Each participant leaves with their own slime creation to take home. Ages 4-12 welcome.

THE CREATIVE OYSTERS

Kids will get creative during this one-hour program by painting upcycled oysters and turning them into art pieces. This hands-on activity encourages creativity and sustainability while providing a memorable experience.

WILD SCIENCE

Calling all curious kids ages 4-12. Step into a world where fun and discovery collide during this high-energy science experience. Young scientists will explore hands-on experiments, from gooey slime creations to fizzy baking soda reactions, uncovering a little everyday chemistry along the way. This is a drop-off activity.

PAINT SPLATTER

Kids toy, water, creature, cuddle, bedtimeStep into an immersive paint-splatter experience designed to let loose, get messy and unleash your creativity. Perfect for families and friends, this high-energy activity invites guests to create bold, colorful masterpieces in a space made for fun. Each participant receives a canvas, vibrant paint selections and protective gear, so you can focus on the art without worrying about the cleanup.

COASTAL KEEPSAKES

Discover the art of island living with a hands-on shell crafting experience led by the Wild Dunes Island Adventures Team. Using shells collected from the beach, young guests will create unique souvenirs inspired by the beauty of Isle of Palms. Appropriate for ages 8-12.

BOAT BUILDING

Put your creativity to the test and design your own mini boat using pool noodles and a variety of fun, provided supplies. During this hands-on activity, guests can drop in, build a one-of-a-kind floating creation and see how it performs on the water. It’s imaginative, interactive fun with a splash of friendly competition.

SAND SCULPTURE

Come join the fun on Sunday mornings throughout the summer, beginning June 7, for a family-friendly sand sculpture competition on the beach in front of the Grand Pavilion. Gather your crew, shape your vision and bring your sandy masterpiece to life. Sand tools are provided to help you build, and guests are welcome to bring their own. A prize will be awarded for first place. Competition begins at 10:30 am, with judging at 11:30 am .
